I owned one pair of MMA gloves, and they were a terrible set from ONE. They fell apart, and they were uncomfortable, but I wore them for years in training. I’ve worn Fairtex’s gloves - various series’ - and although they are nice, they weren’t perfect.

That is my introduction. I needed a new pair of MMA gloves.

Hayabusa Fightwear is a Canadian martial arts equipment company, and the product they sell is top quality. They released a pair of MMA gloves and so I ordered them.

The gloves have a unique ‘y’ grip - instead of having a ton of material covering your hands, it has a mere Y-shaped leather harness. This allows you to grab your opponent much easier in training, and I think it’s definately one of the most revolutionary aspects of the glove. I personally love the velcro wrap that holds the glove to your wrist. There’s two velcro wraps, each administering pressure to different parts of your wrist to ensure top comfort when wearing the glove.

I’ve had the glove for several weeks now, and I’ve used it on almost a daily basis. They are definately the best MMA gloves I’ve ever worn, in comfort, in durability, and in results.

Some brief info about the design of the 4oz gloves:

-Exclusive Y-Shape volar design to keep gloves tight to the palm whether fists are clenched or when hands are open.

-Dual cross directional strap system for ultimate wrist support and striking performance.

Review**

Feel: When I first put them on, they felt very comfortable. They are just a bit too big for my hands. Just a tiny bit. I have small hands, and they gave me a medium; But It isn’t much of a big deal. The padding in the inside really makes it feel comfortable, and the material they use are top quality. These are my first mma gloves ever and I don’t know if these gloves have a lot of padding, but it seems as if other MMA gloves has less padding then these. When I first got them, and wore them, they felt a little stiff..but after wearing them for a while I did not feel any stiffness in the gloves, It is not hard to clinch your fist with these gloves.

Look: The design of these gloves are made of %100 Cowhide Leather. The stitching is well done and I don’t see any rips/tears on them yet. I have only seen maybe one come loose but that’s about it..it hardly makes a difference. The cuffs/trim on the fingers allow your fingers to stay in place, while not putting to much pressure while clinching your fists. The color of gloves are vibrant, especially the white ones. (I chose the black ones, since it’s less prone to get dirty. You can be unique and get the white ones; they look great.) These gloves have the 2 velcro system installed and they are fully covered with velcro (Unlike some other gloves where only a portion of the wrap has velcro) It gives you a tight fit or you can loosen it too make it fit perfectly.

Grappling: These gloves are great to grapple with. They provide enough freedom to grip your partner. The Y palm system helps secure the positioning of the glove even more so, you don’t have to readjust them every other second. Don’t worry about the Y palm thingy ripping..It’s pretty hard to rip leather even if it’s thin.

Striking: These gloves have enough padding on them to work on the heavy bag. These gloves are great for light training or even shadow boxing. You could wear wraps underneath it if you’re doing power shots on the heavy bag and what not, but I never do since I find it to be a little to tight (But, you can adjust the Velcro system to give you the perfect fit). When you get hit, you will feel them..but still, there is enough padding on these gloves.

Complaints: There isn’t much to complain about these gloves. They have a low-key logo on them, and they look dope. If you want a glove that is great for striking yet allows enough freedom for grappling then I would suggest these gloves. They may be a bit bulky for your liking but, I don’t mind. The Y polar is something too get used to if you’re used to the traditional MMA gloves. But, you’ll get used to it. The price could be another factor, these gloves are a bit pricey for some of you ($54.99USD / $64.99CDN). Hayabusa offers a flat shipping rate which is great, since you don’t end up with a big bill.

Hayabusa’s Customer Service is phenomenal. Whatever question you have, they will answer. IMO, this company will come out with the most advanced gear in MMA. That’s just how I view this company. Alright, Ive had these for about 6 months now and it’s time for a review.
Hayabusa Pro MMA Gloves-Here we go…

Design-These things look sexy!!! As you already thought. There’s a Y-shaped “harness” on the palm of these gloves, they act to keep the gloves close to your hands while you have an open hand or a clenched fist. There is a Dual Velcro system that’s attached from 2 different parts of your wrist for superior wrist support.

Functionality-They work excellent, the Y shaped harness on the palm doesn’t get in the way of getting a hold of someone at all for the grapplers and does not make it hard to clench a fist for the strikers. The leather is stiff though, and will require breaking in.

Fit/Feel-I have small hands and thin wrists so I ordered the S/M size that Hayabusa offers. I would’ve given this section a 5/5 also but I can’t, I think the wrist strap should’ve been long enough to wrap around your wrist twice instead of once. I tend to run out of velcro when strap these on as tight as I can. Other than that the fit is amazing, the best I’ve ever felt the lining of the gloves are soft and the padding is evenly distributed so you don’t get any grazing on your knuckles while punching.

Durability-I’ve had these for about 6months, using them almost everyday and I must say, their holding up Very Strong. Some loose threads here and there, scratches, and a little bit of peeling from the top layer of the leather…Nothing to convince me that I’d need to get another pair of gloves any time soon(like padding being exposed or velcro ripping off of the wrist strap)

Function 5/5 They work very well im a BJJ Fighter and they dont hold me back so good for grapiling, also the gloves have soft lining so i dont graze my knuckles when striking

Feel 3/5 Now this may have been unfair and maybe its my fault but i got them and they where uncomftable painful and making my hands bleed so i decided to change how i wrap so my hands would fit in easier and now there not as bad, but maybe i got gloves to big or to small who knows but im ok with them know

Durabilty 5/5 so far so good looking as a good as the day i bought them

Design?
A FULL 5* ’cause.. well, have a look at the gloves. Tidy, pro looking gloves. I love them.

Functionallity?
The Y-shaped palm is marvellous. You get it when you break into them and they NEVER slide or slip

Fit/Feel?
Awesome for throwing hard punches and same deal for groundwork.
IMPORTANT : first (elastic) strap I found to be too long. Got my mum to sew it for me, took 15 minutes and they’re Awesome.

Durability:
Have trained 12 times, fought 1 match, washed them.. Just use some softener and low temp and they’ll be as new and good as they get.
Try NOT to wash them, unless bloody or really stinking!

mackz works for Hayabusa, these reviews are loaded!!!! He seems to know way to much about Hayabusa gear to be an average MMA user, competitor or fan!!! MACKZ fails at this…..Look him up, he is nutt hugging on Hayabusa!
