A solid mouthguard for the price, the Gel Max is probably one of the best boil-n-bites for the money.
The design looked cool enough when I bought it and it felt pretty thick and padded in the right areas. After boiling it and trying to mold it to my teeth, the top part almost completely disfigured, and it has a mediocre fit on my teeth. However, this could be due to an error on my part, or perhaps I just have a weird set of teeth. In any case, boil-n-bites are not expected to offer nearly the same fit or protection as custom fits.

During sparring, it stays on well enough and protects the teeth adequately. It’s not perfect, but as far as boil-n-bites go I think this is as good as it gets.

For $10 this is a great mouthguard. It has shockdoctor technology in it to cushion and offset your teeth. Mine fits great. When I first “fit” it I could not take it off without using my fingers. It stayed in place no matter how hard I trained. I don’t notice it during training (good thing). You can reboil if it does not fit right. And for the price grab a couple of them to have on hand.

I tried this model and was very disappointed that I couldn’t get it to mold properly to my narrow mouth until after several attemtps by which time the mouth piece was all melted up. Onother problem was that it was thick and wouldn’t conform will with my narrow jaw, the gag reflex was terrible. The design of the mouth piece is fine for a boil and bite; the prolem is with it’s excecution. All my other shock doctors have been very durable so don’t expect any different here.

This one is very cheap and well worth it. Mine has hold up fine and i love it. its a boil and bite so thats what you will get if you boil or bite it wrong then you are in trouble. But since mine came out perfectly it works and holds up very well. Stays in place and no gagging.

Mouthguard would not form well to my mouth. During sparing session I was concentrating more on making it not fall out than the actual fighting. Also during first use a piece of the bottom of it chipped of and had a jagged piece poking at my mouth. It may protect teeth but impractical for use.

this has got to be the biggest piece of shit on the market. i have had better boil and bite luck with a 2.00 wal mart special. do not buy this mouthguard please!!! i beg of you. you are throwing away ten bucks. -one the thing was about an inch too narrow for my mouth, -two, the gel on the inside was too thick so moulding was tricky, -three, after two attempts, i had bitten completely through the guard, -four, after moulding, the guard shrank in the tap water which the instructions told me to do, therefore ruining any kind of suction, and five-the wavy things on the bottom prevented my jaw from closing to a good level, making me vulnerable to being k.o. ed. after this i used some very naughty language and threw it at a wall and into the trash. i will be buying a custom one very soon. untill then, everlast it is.
