General- I was one of the lucky people who was allowed to test these gloves. I would like to once again thank Ron for the opportunity. This glove is similar to the Ouano Shooto gloves, however with a few differences. The padding sits over the front of the fist, this is different from my Ouano’s I didn’t end up with skinned 2nd knuckles with these gloves. Overall these gloves are very well put together and are extremely comfortable. I will break down my Review into 2 parts Striking, Grappling as well as some final thoughts.
Striking:
The padding on these gloves is a little bit thicker than that on the Ouano gloves. This extra padding has allowed me to spar at almost full force which is pretty good for me a fair sized heavyweight. I also used these gloves on a variety of punching bags that ranged in weight from 25 to 150 pounds and for people who want to use MMA type gloves on a bag, these are the gloves for you. They had very good shock absorptions. I had them on with wraps and I had no problems hitting full force with these on. The next day I had no soreness at all after almost 3 hours of bag work. I also used these for ground and pound and they performed well.
Grappling:
I usually don’t like to roll with gloves on unless its MMA training and not BJJ because people can grab onto your gloves and isolate you. With the way the padding sits on the gloves it was hard for people to grab onto them. This is because the padding is contoured and not just a “pillow” on the glove. Also I was able to sink in chokes with out much difficulty. They were also good for joint locks etc.
Overall these gloves are awesome and they are now my primary gloves. The only problem I had with them was the elastic on the wrist was a little tight with wraps on but that was it. If you are looking to get some new gloves I would suggest looking into these.
